The country’s rising softball talents took center stage as the Cebuana Lhuillier-backed U18 ASAPHIL Men’s Softball National Championship wrapped up with a series of competitive matchups, standout individual performances, and strong community support from across the region. Teams from Batangas Province, Bulacan, and neighboring municipalities battled through the Placement Round and Super Round divisions, highlighting the growing depth of youth softball development in the Philippines.

In the Placement Round, Agoncillo emerged victorious after defeating Team Nasugbu in the championship game to secure the top spot, while Lemery claimed third place after overcoming Cuenca. Meanwhile, the tournament’s Super Round or “Grand Champion” division featured the event’s strongest contenders, with Batangas City overpowering Calaca in the Grand Final to capture the coveted Grand Champion title. Pandi, Bulacan also delivered a strong showing after defeating Batang Gentri in the battle for third place.
“This year’s championship showed exactly why grassroots development remains vital to the future of Philippine softball,” said Cebuana Lhuillier President and CEO and ASAPHIL President Jean Henri Lhuillier. “The level of discipline, competitiveness, and teamwork displayed by these young athletes proves that the country has a very promising pipeline of talent. Beyond the wins and awards, tournaments like this help shape character, build confidence, and strengthen communities through sports.”
Several players also earned recognition for their outstanding individual performances throughout the tournament. John Carlo Magcarang stood out as both Best Hitter and Most Stolen Base awardee, while Rich Eyronne Pagkaliwagan earned the Most RBI citation. Niño Omar Driz was named Best Pitcher for his consistent dominance on the mound. Rick Lenard De Guzman delivered one of the tournament’s most impressive campaigns, taking home Best Slugger, Most Home Run, and Most Valuable Player honors after a string of explosive offensive performances.
The championship further highlighted the strength of Batangas’ local softball programs, with Batangas-based teams securing top finishes across both divisions. Strong spectator turnout and growing regional interest throughout the competition also reflected the sport’s expanding reach and popularity among younger athletes and local communities. With another successful edition of the national championship concluded, ASAPHIL continues to reinforce its commitment to developing the next generation of Filipino softball players. This effort gains added significance as they also prepare to host the upcoming U18 Men’s Asia Cup, positioning the country as a key hub for softball development in the region.
