Cebuana Lhuillier, in partnership with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Thames International, has completed the first batch of its TESDA Jewelry Sellers (Alajera) Level II – Enterprise-Based Training Program, helping Alajeras strengthen their technical expertise and expand their business capabilities.

Developed by Cebuana Lhuillier’s Retail Business Group (RBG), the program supports the company’s vision of building a more capable, professional, and trusted network of Alajeras. It combines jewelry identification, appraisal, and testing with entrepreneurship, financial literacy, digital marketing, communication, and professional skills training.

Jean Henri Lhuillier, President and CEO of Cebuana Lhuillier, emphasized the value of investing in the Alajera network. “This initiative reflects our belief that jewelry sellers are not just traders but entrepreneurs who deserve access to the skills and knowledge that will help them grow. By combining TESDA certification with business and professional training, we are helping build a stronger and more trusted Alajera network that can better serve communities,” he said.

Held at the Cebuana Lhuillier Academy in Antipolo, the inaugural batch filled all available slots within one day of invitations being sent to the Alajera network, reflecting strong interest among jewelry sellers in gaining formal training and industry-recognized credentials.

The program brings together the expertise of its partners. TESDA provides the skills-development and assessment pathway for Jewelry Sellers (Alajera) Level II, with participants who meet the required competency and assessment standards eligible for TESDA National Certification.

Thames International contributes business and entrepreneurship learning, while Cebuana Lhuillier and Just Jewels provide industry expertise in gold and jewelry.

“By integrating jewelry retail practices with entrepreneurship and digital marketing, we are preparing Alajeras to succeed in today’s competitive environment. It’s a step toward creating a sustainable network that benefits both sellers and customers,” said Rob Afzelius, Cebuana Lhuillier’s First Vice President and Retail Business Group Head.

Following the strong response to its inaugural run, Cebuana Lhuillier is continuing the TESDA Jewelry Sellers (Alajera) Level II program as part of its commitment to supporting Alajeras through skills development and certification opportunities. Interested Alajeras may express their interest by emailing alajeraprogram@pjlhuillier.com or contacting 0995 548 3924. Qualified applicants will be screened and considered for future batches.
