The report, which is based on a survey of 1,218 senior risk professionals from 108 countries and data from medical and security environments of countries with “Insignificant” to “Extreme” levels of risk, stated that global risks may decrease productivity as employees bear cost-of-living crisis and difficult security situations. It also detailed major risks organizations must address in 2023 and highlights how organizational leaders should support employees affected by ever-shifting ‘perma-crisis’ events.

Some of these risks include the geopolitical shifts like the Russia/Ukraine conflict, which is expected to intensify longstanding geopolitical tensions. Rising levels of social unrest will also lead to lost productivity in 2023. While, climate change will continue to contribute to the emergence of health risks and diseases.

Given the findings of Risk Outlook 2023, International SOS advised organizations to remain timely, accurate, and actionable by using correct information. They should equip their teams on perma-crisis, plan for the unplannable, prepare for risks like climate change and other forces, prioritize mental health at workplace.
