The Filipino quartet of Artegal Barrientos, Stephen Luke Diwa, Marc Dylan Custodio and Zach Ramin shot 943 to claim victory at the 21st Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling Championships in Bangkok, Thailand on Monday night.

Behind by 209 pins, the Philippines fought back to win the gold medal with 4933 at the Blu-O Rhythm & Bowl Ratchayothin.

Korea, composed of Baek Seungmin, Baek Seungwoo, Park Soowan and Lee Myeongcheol, came up with 826 for a total of 4922 to wrest the lead from Thailand, which fell behind by 4 pins after Nutavat Rasisekun, Pakaphol Kulkarineethum, Sasitha Kaewklom and Vilinkorn Kiedkaew, scored 719 for a total of 4918.

Singapore scored 849 in the last game to finish fourth with 4905 while Chinese Taipei delivered 901 effort to settle for fifth with 4832.

The Koreans, who were ahead after the first block, stretched their lead from 37 pins to 63 pins after scoring 824 in the opening game of the second block.

Host Thailand registered 842 to take the second spot while Hong Kong slid to third. But Korea only managed 680 in the fifth game, while Thailand scored 846 to grab the lead.

Meanwhile, Kiedkaew ruled the All-Events with 3880. Chinese Taipei’s Lan Shao Kang (3828) got the silver medal while Malaysian Muhammad Hariz Adlan Azam (3794) took the bronze.

The top 16 boys — four from Korea, three each from Malaysia and Philippines, and one each from Australia, Kuwait, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand and Chinese Taipei based on the All-Events standings — qualified for the Round-Robin Masters finals. (PNA)
