Quezon City (QC) is celebrating its 81st Foundation month this entire October. As the usual celebratory activities like parades and feasts are not feasible due to the pandemic and social distancing rules, the local government of QC will instead be encouraging its QCitizens to unleash their creativity in an online essay writing contest and an online photo contest under the theme “QC, Strength in Unity”.
The writing contest, titled “A Message of Hope”, which aims to recognize the best written QCitizen piece about hope and unity in a time of great crisis. On the other hand, the photo contest with the title “A Vision of Hope” wishes to capture how QCitizens visualize the same message.
“Even before the pandemic began, we have always been adamant about our QCitizens being a big part of the City’s progress,” said QC Mayor Joy Belmonte. “Through our programs in the past few months, we have been able to fight back, but we are not yet out of the woods. It is only fitting that during the City’s 81st Foundation month, we remind ourselves that we need to unite to give each other hope and overcome whatever challenges we face as a city and as a people,” she stressed. “We need to uplift one another, as QCitizens.”
For each contest, the following prizes will be awarded to the respective winners: Php 100,000 for the Grand Prize; PhP 80,000 for Second Place; and PhP 50,000 for Third Place.
Interested QCitizens who wish to participate may submit their entries on October 10, 2020. Deadline of submissions will be on October 21, 2020
