Team Payaman joins first-ever Talpukan Tournament, powering up Beyblade’s competitive scene

The rise of competitive Beyblade in the Philippines took center stage at the first-ever TalpukanTournament, a high-energy showdown at Robinsons Las Piñas. Organized by Matthaios and the Las Piñas Beybladers, the event drew over 150 participants, proving that Beyblade is far beyond a trip down memory lane—it is a growing esport with a passionate community.

The tournament’s huge turnout and intense battles showcased a community hungry to take the game to the next level. To amp up the excitement, Team Payaman icons like Cong TV, Junnie Boy, Mavi, Yow, Burong, Bok, Mentos, and GengGeng were in attendance, cheering on competitors and even jumping into the arena themselves.

A Battle of Skill and Strategy

The competition followed a demanding seven-round Swiss format, with players battling their way to the Top 64 before advancing to a high-stakes single-elimination bracket. Every match was an electrifying showdown. Blades clashed, sparks flew, and competitors pushed their gear to the limit.

After intense rounds of precision, power, and mind games, the top players emerged:

🏆 Champion: Matthaios

🥈 2nd Place: Jics

🥉 3rd Place: Chan

A standout moment came from Team Payaman’s Junnie Boy, who stunned everyone with a 7th-place finish, proving that Beyblade X is a game that demands skill, precision, and strategy.

Beyblade X’s Growing Competitive Scene

Beyond the excitement, the tournament highlighted Beyblade’s growing status as a serious, competitive sport. Tournament organizer Matthaios shared his vision: “Many people remember Beyblade from childhood, but they don’t realize how alive and competitive the community still is,” he said. “Tournaments like this aren’t just about reliving nostalgia; they’re about building a legitimate competitive scene and introducing the game to a new generation.”

Off the back of the Talpukan Tournament’s massive success, the Las Piñas Beybladers are already gearing up for bigger and better events. Plans are in motion to bring in bigger sponsors, larger prize pools, and even more intense battles in future competitions.
